The purpose of the District – Wide Initiative program is to provide greater opportunities for area Aboriginal people to participate in district-wide employment training initiatives. The program seeks to provide meaningful, incremental and career development employment opportunities. The program provides wage subsidies, training costs and other negotiated and specified costs to recognized organizations and institutions. The program is intended for people who are unemployed, career-oriented, and/or seeking to upgrade skills.
Note for example: ISETS Carry Forward Funds was used to run a Carpenter Apprenticeship Training Program in Hudson, ON., Heavy Equipment Training in Dryden, Line Cooks and Haircare in Sioux Lookout.
There are other trainings throughout the year, such as Electrical Training.
